Hot Free Audio Software from Winamp
If you missed out on some great presents for Christmas, there's no need to despair. The fabulous people at Nullsoft have been busily creating version 5 of their popular Winamp software. Officially released on the 14th December, 2003 - the 5.01 release is already out there circulating.

I personally have upgraded to this latest free version of the software hoping their previous upgrade efforts had been improved.

         WOW

Is pretty much all I can say about the new software which really "whips the lama's arse". If you are looking for some great software to play your MP3's or even music CD's this software really packs a punch.

Check it out for yourself at www.winamp.com/player/.

Management of RFID Tags given to VeriSign
VeriSign is the company that manages the internet's core directory and has been hired to perform a similar role in the development of a system for radio-frequency identification tags.

RFID tagging is expected to begin replacing bar codes as product identifiers during the rest of the decade. RFID is an efficient means of inventory tracking, because products and supply pallets with radio tags can be read quickly and wirelessly by a scanner that relays information directly to a computer system.

With an expected price tag of 5 cents or less and an effective "read" range of between 10 and 30 feet, you can easily understand how this technology will save manufacturing (and retail) companies time and money in the movement and management of products.

Technology such as this is already in use for applications such as car park entry validation, room access verification and fuel dispensary, but for manufacturing companies I expect the real drive to come from their retailers. Large corporations such as K-Mart, Coles, and the Australian Defence Forces will impose requirements of such devices to be fitted prior to delivery (so their individual systems can track the goods more autonomously).

Datamax Printers
Looking for a label printer that stands out in the crowd?

The Datamax M-4206 is the newest addition to the Class Family of Datamax printers and the first in a series of forthcoming M-Class printers.

The M-Class combines industry-recognized engineering and a superior design, borrowed from the industry-leading Datamax I-Class printers.

The M-4206 was designed to exceed the expectations of the most demanding users and is built on a die-cast aluminium chassis to enhance durability and performance.

The printer's design allows for field installable options and quick media changes for users requiring mission-critical printing capabilities. The M-Class features a compact, modular design for use in environments with limited space and offers low total cost of ownership.

Options such as Thermal Transfer, Internal Rewind, Peel and Present and a Cutter are user-installable and removable. By incorporating these successful design features into a user-friendly, small footprint printer, the M-Class exceeds today's bar coding and labelling requirements.

The M-Class printer is intended to address the needs of new users of bar coding technology, as well as the prominent choice for users who have aging thermal printers that need to be replaced.

With a price tag under $1,900 ex GST, the M-Class printer offers a great deal of functionality for very little expense. If you would like more information on any of the Datamax range of label printers, please do not hesitate to contact Calido today.
