Its Official, Comet helps increase production
We have graphed the results of the number of products produced from 3 months prior to installing Comet, until todays date.

As you can expect, there is a slight decrease directly after the installation whilst the system kicks in and people become more familiar with its operation.

After this point, it didn't take long for production to resume as per normal and further increase the number of units produced.

The increase in production is a direct result of your factory workers knowing what jobs they must work on, and having the information readily available at their fingertips. Without a consise production plan (keeping your workers on the ball), minutes, hours and eventually days are lost due to inefficient production time.

New Anti-SPAM Legislation
We're all aware of what SPAM is - unsolicited commercial messages. Having several domain names registered, SPAM emails are the vain of my life, but hopefully this will all be changing.

As of April 10th, a new anti SPAM legislation came into effect that prohibits sending, or causing to be sent, unsolicited commercial electronic messages that have an Australian Link. (It is also illegal to send email to a non existing email account.) This includes any electronic messaging such as mobile text messages and also emails.

There is a 120 day sunrise period for non-complying companies to become compliant. This means if you don't already have your consent from people to send them commercial material, you have 120 days to get it.

If you would like Calido to build an opt in subscription service for your
website, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Commercial email is any email that offers a commercial transaction, or directs the recipient to a location where a commercial transaction takes place.

To be considered spam, the message must have been sent without the recipients consent.

What does all this mean? It means that you must have consent from the people who you wish to send commercial email to. Consent can be in one of two forms:

Express Consent: where the recipient has expressly given you permission to send them commercial email

Inferred Consent: is where the recipient has not expressly given you permission to send them commercial messages, but there is an understanding or expectation that messages will be sent. In some circumstances consent can also be inferred by someone conspicuously publishing their electronic address.

To comply with the SPAM Act 2003, you must also provide accurate information about the messages originator. It must also contain a functional "unsubscribe" facility to allow people to opt out of the communication.

Failure to comply may result in fines of up to $44,000 per day for a single person, or $220,000 for a body corporate for a single days failure to comply.

If your company sends commercial messages, I encourage you to look into the full SPAM Act 2003 which is available online at the National Office for the Information Economy.

Information in this article was compiled using information gathered from the National Office for the Information Economy.

Internet Scams
There are several new scams hitting the shores attempting to steal your bank account login information and withdraw your cash.

The most recent of which is where an email telling you that your computer has been hit with the "Netsky.B virus" and directs you towards what appears to be a Symantec Antivirus update website.

If you click on the link, it directs you to a website which loads a keystroke logger trojan onto your computer and has the ability to transmit your vital login information to a third party.

I cannot stress the importance NOT TO FOLLOW any instructions in an email which comes from somebody you don't know. More importantly is to use common sense in judging the validity of the claims in an email.

If you are unsure if an email is valid, check out the SpamWatch website.
