Microsoft developed the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) in response to customer requests for a streamlined method of identifying common security holes. MBSA also scans for missing hotfixes and service packs for Windows, IIS, and SQL.

The only downside of the utility is that it requires Windows 2000 or Windows XP to run - the download size is about 2.5 Mb

Disabling MS Find Fast
Have you ever been sitting at your computer when all of a sudden the hard disk starts working like crazy mad?

If so, it may be because the Microsoft Utility "Find Fast" is searching your hard disk. This utility builds an index of the files to speed up the "Open" and "Open Office" document commands when using Microsoft Office programs.

There is an overview of the Find Fast Index utility in the Microsoft Knowledgebase article Q205289.

Information on how to disable the utility can be found in KB article Q158705
